1. Man is a social animal. He cannot live alone and no person can be happy without sincere friends. But a selfish persons cannot get friends. You can not receive love unless you give it. [Page-3,34]
মানুষ সামাজিক জীব । সে একাকী বাঁচতে পারে না এবং কোন মানুষই অন্তরঙ্গ বন্ধু ছাড়া সুখী হতে পারে না । কিন্তু স্বার্থপর ব্যাক্তি কোনো বন্ধু পায় না । তুমি ভালবাসা পাবে না যদি না তুমি ভালোবাসা দাও ।
2. A Newspaper is very useful in our life. It helps us in many ways. By reading newspapers we come to know so many things. Newspapers play a very important role in forming public opinion. [Page-5]
সংবাদপত্র আমাদের জীবনে খুবই প্রয়োজনীয় বস্তু । এটা আমাদের বিভিন্ন ভাবে সাহায্য করে । সংবাদপত্র পাঠ করলে আমরা অনেক কিছু জানতে পারি । সংবাদপত্র জনমত গঠনে খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে ।
3. Student life is the stage of preparation for future. This is the most important period of life. As a student his first duty is to study and learn. He should be careful to his lessons. [Page-7]
ছাত্রজীবন হল ভবিষ্যতের প্রস্তুতি পর্ব । এটাই জীবনের সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অধ্যায় । ছাত্র হিসাবে তার প্রথম কর্তব্য হল পড়াশোনা ও শিক্ষা গ্রহন করা । তাকে অবশ্যই তার পাঠের প্রতি যত্নবান হওয়া উচিত ।
4.Work is another name of life, Idle persons have no place on the earth. So do not waste time. Wastage of time means wastage of life. [Page-9]
কর্মের অপর নাম হল জীবন , অলস ব্যাক্তির পৃথিবীতে কোনো জায়গা নেই । সুতরাং সময় নষ্ট কোরো না । সময় নষ্ট করা মানে জীবনকে নষ্ট করা ।
5. The real heroes are those whom the world does not know. They work among the poor-among the distressed. They cannot expect any reward from them. They are moved by the sufferings of others and their main objects is to relieve those suffering [Page-12]
প্রকৃত বীর (নায়ক) তারাই যাদের পৃথিবী মনে রাখে না (পৃথিবী চেনে না) । তাঁরা কাজ করে গরীব ও দুঃস্থদের জন্য । কিন্তু এর জন্য তাঁরা কোনো পুরষ্কারের প্রত্যাশা করে না । তাঁরা অন্যের কষ্টে ব্যাথিত হয় এবং তাদের মুল লক্ষ্য হল সেই কষ্টগুলি থেকে তাদের মুক্তি দেওয়া ।
6.A patriot is a man who loves his country, works for it and is willing to fight and die for it. Every soldier is bound to do his duty but the best soldiers do more than this. They risk their lives because they love its Hills and Valleys, its cities and villages, its people and their way of life. They are willing to defend it to the last against Enemies who try to conquer it and destroy it. [Page-14]
দেশপ্রেমিকেরা হল এমন ব্যাক্তি যারা নিজের দেশকে ভালবাসেন, দেশের হয়ে কাজ করেন এবং এর জন্য যুদ্ধ করতে ও প্রান দিতেও প্রস্তুত থাকেন। প্রতিটি সৈনিক তাঁর কর্তব্যে বাঁধা কিন্তু আদর্শ সৈনিকেরা এর থেকেও বেশি করেন। তাঁরা জীবনের ঝুঁকি নেয় কারন তাঁরা এর পাহাড় ও উপত্যকাকে ভালবাসেন, এর শহর এবং গ্রামকে, এখানকার মানুষজন ও তাদের জীবনযাত্রাকে ভালবাসেন । তাঁরা তাঁদের জীবন দিয়েও প্রতিরোধ করেন সেই শত্রু পক্ষকে যারা এই দেশ দখল ও ধ্বংস করতে চায় ।
7.Education has no end. So you should keep your reading. Many young men close their books when they have their degrees and learn no more. Therefore the very soon forget all they ever learnt. [Page-16]
শিক্ষার কোনো শেষ নেই। সুতরাং তুমি তোমার পড়াশোনা চালিয়ে যাও । অনেক যুবক পড়াশোনা বন্ধ করে দেন যখন তারা ডিগ্রি অর্জন করে নেয় এবং পড়াশোনা ছেড়ে দেন । কাজেই তারা শীঘ্রই সবকিছু ভুলে যায় তারা যা শিখেছিল ।
8. Good books are storehouses of knowledge and wisdom. Anyone who has the key can enter these storehouse and helps himself. What is the key ? Simply the ability to read. [Page-18]
ভালো বই হল জ্ঞানের ভান্ডার। যার হাতে এই চাবি আছে , সে -ই এই ভাণ্ডারে প্রবেশ করে এবং নিজেকে সাহায্য করতে পারে । চাবিটি কি ? শুধুমাত্র পড়ার ক্ষমতা ।
9. The child shows the man as the morning shows the day. He is the budding flower. He is the citizen of tomorrow. He is the future bread earner of the family [ Page-21]
সকাল যেমন একটা পরিপূর্ণ দিনকে চিহ্নিত করে একটা শিশুও তেমনি একটা মানুষকে চিহ্নিত করে । সে হল ফুটন্ত ফুল। সে হল আগামী দিনের নাগরিক। সে পরিবারের ভবিষ্যৎ রুটি উপার্জনকারী ।
10. Discipline is of great importance in student life. Students should be taught to realize that the observance of discipline is a sacred duty of theirs. They should respect their superiors. They should also cultivate the habit of punctuality and good manners. [Page-23]
ছাত্র জীবনে শৃঙ্খলাবোধ খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় । ছাত্রদেরকে অবশ্যই শিখতে হবে ও উপলব্ধি করতে হবে যে শৃঙ্খলা পালন করা তাদের একান্ত পালনীয় কর্তব্য । তাদের অবশ্যই বড়দের শ্রদ্ধা করতে হবে । এর পাশাপাশি তাদের সময়নিষ্ঠ ও সু -অভ্যাসের অনুশীলন করতে হবে ।
11. We should try to prosper in life. But we should give up our sense of morality. If we compromise with dishonesty, it would be difficult for us to respect ourselves. So it is important to choose the right way. [Page- 25]
আমাদের অবশ্যই জীবনে উন্নতি লাভের চেষ্টা করতে হবে । কিন্তু আমাদের নৈতিকতা পরিত্যাগ করলে চলবে না । যদি আমরা অসতের সঙ্গে আপস করি, তাহলে নিজের কাছেই অ -শ্রদ্ধার পাত্র হয়ে উঠব । সুতরাং জীবনে সঠিক পথ বেছে নেওয়াই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ।

17. Words have lot of power They can help or hurt, bless or curse. Unkind words do a lot of harm. kind words do a lot of good. A kind word offers more welcome than a costly present. [Page-40]
কথার আছে প্রচুর শক্তি । ইহা পারে সাহায্য করতে অথবা আঘাত করতে, আশীর্বাদ অথবা অভিশাপ করতে । নির্দয় বাক্য প্রচুর আঘাত হানে। সদয় বাক্য অনেক ভালো করে । একটি সদয় বাক্য দামি উপহার এর চেয়েও মূল্যবান ।
18. Man is the maker of his own fortune. We cannot prosper in our life if we are afraid of labour Some people think that success in life depends on luck of chance. Nothing can be further from the truth. [Page-42]
মানুষ নিজেই তার ভাগ্যের স্রষ্টা । আমরা জীবনে উন্নতি লাভ করতে পারবো না যদি আমরা পরিশ্রম করতে ভয় পায় । কিছু মানুষ মনে করে যে সফলতা নির্ভর করে ভাগ্যের সুযোগের উপর। সত্য থেকে আর কিছুই হতে পারে না।
19. Newspaper reading has become an essential part of our life. As we get up in the morning, we wait eagerly for the daily newspaper Twentieth century was an age of newspaper. Through newspapers we gather information about different countries of the world [Page-45]
