There was once a toy clown called Tuffy.
একদা টাফি নামে এক খেলনা জোকার ছিল।
He lived in a toy shop with There many other toys.

Tuffy longed to be a hero.
টাফি বীর হতে চেয়েছিল।
He wanted to do something noble so that all the toys would cry out that he was a hero.
সে কিছু একটি মহৎ কাজ করতে চেয়েছিল যাতে সমস্ত খেলনা চিৎকার করে বলে যে
সে একজন বীর।
He thought his little corner on the toy shelf was dull.
সে ভাবল যে খেলা তারটির ওপর তার ছোট কোনটি ছিল একঘেয়ে।
"Why do you grumble so much?" asked Timothy, the puppy dog.
“তুমি এত গজগজ করছ কেন?” টিমোথি নামে কুকুর ছানাটি জিজ্ঞাসা করল।
"Be happy with us, Tuffy. Why do you want to go off and have adventures?
"Adventures are always exciting.
“টাফি আমাদের সঙ্গে তুমি সুখে থাকো। কেন তুমি চলে যেতে চাও এবং দুঃসাহসিক
অভিযান করতে চাও?”
দুঃসাহসিক কাজ সর্বদাই মজার।
I want to do something that would make all the toys take notice of me.
আমি কিছু করতে চাই যা আমাকে সব খেলনার নজরে আনবে।
It's so dull up here on our shelf," replied Tuffy.

At night, the clown climbed down from his shelf to look for adventures.
রাতে জোকারটি দুঃসাহসিক কাজের খোঁজে তার তাক থেকে নিচে নেমে এল।
Now that night there was to be a grand race between two wooden horses and carts driven wooden farmers.
এখন সে রাতে কাঠের চাষীদের চালিত দুটো কাঠের ঘোড়া গাড়ির মধ্যে একটি দারুন

The race was just starting as Tuffy climbed down.
যখন টাফি নিচে নামল দৌড়টি সবেমাত্র শুরু হচ্ছিল।
One cart came racing by.
একটি গাড়ি ছুটে এল।
The farmer riding it stood up and shouted!
এর ওপর চড়ে থাকা চাষিটি দাঁড়িয়ে পড়ল এবং চিৎকার করল।
"Goodness! An adventure already! A runaway horse!" thought Tuffy.
“হায় ঈশ্বর ! একটি দুঃসাহসিক অভিযান ইতিমধ্যে হয়ে গেল ! একটি উদ্দাম ঘোড়া
!” টাকি ভাবল।
"Now is my chance to be a hero."
“এখন আমার বীর হওয়া পালা”।
The horse and the cart came round again and Tuffy jumped at the reins.
ঘোড়াটি এবং গাড়িটি আবার ঘুরে এল এবং টাফি একলাফে রাসটি ধরে ফেলল।
He held on to them and dragged the horse to one side.
সে সেগুলি ভালো করে ধরল এবং ঘোড়াটিতে একদিকে টেনে নিয়ে গেল।
The cart turned over and the farmer fell down.
গাড়িটি উল্টে গেল এবং চাষীর নিচে পড়ে গেল।
Tuffy stood by, helping him up, feeling very proud that he had stopped the horse.

But the farmer was terribly angry.

Tuffy was upset.
টাফি হতাশ হল।
"You don't understand I'm a hero!"
“তুমি বুঝছ না যে আমি একজন বীর !”
He ran out and sat down in a toy farm wiping his tears.
সে ছুটে বেরিয়ে গেল এবং তার চোখের জল মুছতে মুছতে একটি খেলনা খামার বাড়িতে
বসে পড়ল।
Suddenly Tuffy noticed a doll's house in a corner of the shop.
হঠাৎ টাফি একটা দোকানের এক কোনে একটি পুতুলের বাড়ি দেখল।
He saw smoke coming out of one of the windows.
সে জানলাগুলির একটি থেকে ধোয়া বেরোতে দেখল।
"Fire! Fire!" shouted Tuffy."Another adventure!I'll put it out at once."
টাফি চিৎকার করে বলল “আগুন! আগুন! “ আরেকটি দুঃসাহসিক কাজ! আমি এটিকে এখনই
নিভিয়ে ফেলব”।
He found a ladder and put it up against the wall of the doll's house.
সে একটি মই দেখল এবং এটিকে পুতুল ঘরের দেওয়াল ঘেঁষে লাগাল।
Then he took a big bucket, filled it with water from the farm pond.
তারপর সে একটি বড় বালতি নিল খামারবাড়ির পুকুর থেকে জল দিয়ে এটি ভর্তি
করল।
He climbed the ladder and threw all the water in at the window.
সে মই দিয়ে উঠলো এবং জানালার দিকে সব জল ছুড়ে দিল।
Just then, someone caught him by the collar and roared, "And what do you think you're doing playing a silly trick like that?" Poor Tuffy was shaken like a rat.
ঠিক সেই সময় কে একজন তার কলারটি ধরল এবং গর্জে উঠল “আর তোমার কি মনে হয়
ওই রকম একটি বোকামির কৌশল খেলে তুমি কি করছ?” হতভাগা আর টাফি ইঁদুরের মতো কাঁপছিল।
"Don't do that!" he shouted.
সে চিৎকার করে বলল “ওটা করোনা !”
"I am a hero! was putting out the fire.
“আমি একজন বীর! আমি আগুন নিভাছিলাম”।
" Tuffy saw that he was speaking to a sailor doll who was making porridge.
টাফি দেখল যে সে একজন নাবিক পুতুলের সঙ্গে কথা বলছে সে পায়েশ রান্না করছিল।
"Can't I cook in peace without you coming and throwing water at me?"
তোমার আশা এবং আমার দিকে জল ছোড়া ছাড়া আমি কি শান্তিতে রাধতে পারি না?”

"They won't let me be a hero," he sobbed.
তারা আমাকে বীর হতে দেবে না সে ফুঁপিয়ে ফুঁপিয়ে কাঁদতে কাঁদতে বলল।
Soon after, he heard a cry and looked around.
একটু পরেই সে কান্না শুনলো এবং চারিদিকে চেয়ে দেখল।
There was a big bowl of water nearby.
কাছেই একটি বড় জলের পাত্র ছিল।
In it were swimming two fine goldfish.
এর মধ্যে দুটি সুন্দর সোনালী মাছ সাঁতার কাটছিল।
And there was a small doll too!
"She's fallen in! “সে পড়ে গেছে !
I'll rescue her! আমি তাকে উদ্ধার করব!
This is a real
adventure at last!"

👉Answer the following
questions:
(a) What did Tuffy do when he got upset?
Ans- When he got upset, Tuffy ran out and sat down in a toy
farm wiping his tears.
(b) How did the toy clown put out the fire?
Ans- The toy clown put out the fire by throwing all the
water.
(c) Why was the sailor doll angry?
Ans- As the sailor doll was disturbed by tuffy when he was
making porridge, he was angry.
(d) What real adventure did Tuffy find at last?
Ans- To rescue a small doll from a big bowl of water was a
real adventure found by tuffy at last.

He caught hold of a little net and dipped it into the water.

He brought the little doll out.
সেই ছোট্ট পুতুলটিকে বের করে আনল।
But she slipped out and fell on to the table
banging her head.
কিন্তু সে পিছলে গেল এবং টেবিলের উপর পড়ে তার মাথায় আঘাত লাগলো।
She began to cry. সে কাদতে শুরু করল।
Up came a policeman doll and said fiercely,
"What are you doing, catching the doll and making her bump her head like
that?"
এক পুলিশ পুতুল এসে পড়ল এবং তীব্রভাবে বলল “পুতুলটিকে ধরে আর তার মাথাটা
ওইভাবে ঠুকে তুমি কি করছ?”
"I was saving her from drowning!" said Tuffy.
টাফি বলল “আমি তাকে জলে ডোবা থেকে বাঁচাচ্ছিলাম!”
"I was having such a lovely swim!" sobbed the little doll.
“আমি এরকম সুন্দর সাঁতার কাটছিলাম!” ছোট্ট পুতুলটি ফুঁপিয়ে ফুঁপিয়ে কেঁদে
বলল।
"I swim with the goldfish every night.
“আমি প্রতি রাত্রে সোনালী মাছের সঙ্গে সাঁতার কাটি।
But that clown caught me in a nasty net and
spoilt

কিন্তু ওই জোকারটি একটি নোংরা জল দিয়ে আমাকে ধরল এবং আমার মজা নষ্ট করে

He isn't a hero at all!"
The policeman locked Tuffy in a room in the police station.
পুলিশ থানার একটি ঘরে টাফিকে বন্দী করে রাখল।
Suddenly he heard a noise outside the window of the room.
হঠাৎ ঘরটির জানালার বাইরে একটি গোলমালের শব্দ সে শুনতে পেল।
"Tuffy, Tuffy!" barked a little voice.
“টাফি, টাফি!” একটি ছোট্ট গলায় ঘেউ করে ডাকল।
"It is 1, Timothy. Here is the key to
the door."
আমি টিমোথি। দরজা খোলার চাবিটি এখানে আছে”।
Tinkle! ঝনাৎ করে শব্দ !
The key fell to the floor and the clown quickly unlocked the door.
মেঝের ওপর চাবিটি পড়ল এবং জোকারটি তাড়াতাড়ি দরজাটি খুলল ।
Timothy and he ran off together and climbed up to the shelf.
টিমোথি এবং সে একসঙ্গে দৌড়ে পালালো এবং তাকের ওপর উঠে পড়ল।
"Thank you. You're the hero!" he said.
“তোমাকে ধন্যবাদ তুমি হলে বীর!” সে বলল।
"I didn't stop to think. আমি চিন্তা বন্ধ করিনি।
But you saw I was in real trouble and you saved me.
কিন্তু তুমি দেখলে আমি সত্যি বিপদে পড়েছিলাম এবং তুমি আমাকে রক্ষা করলে”।
"
The toy dog blushed.
"Oh! How peaceful it is up here.I'll never want to
leave this shelf
“আ! কেমন শান্তিতে এখানে আছি। এই তাক ছাড়তে আমি আর কখনোই চাইব না”।
And, until he was sold, he never did!
এবং যতদিন না তাকে বিক্রি করা হয়েছিল সে কখনোই কাজ করেনি।

Ans- Timothy helped Tuffy by supplying the key of the door
of the room where he had been locked . Tuffy unlocked yhe door with the key. In
this way he was released from the police station.
(d) Why did Timothy blush?
Ans- As Timothy was called hero by Tuffy, he blushed.

cap. Put the cap on one sock. Imagine the puppet to be Tuffy.
Take a long piece of paper to make a tail. Fix it to the
other sock.Imagine the other puppet to be Timothy.
Now start an imaginary conversation between Tuffy and
Timothy.
